Power was returned to Festival Hydro customers at about 8:11 a.m. Monday morning after early morning outages in the city.
The city’s distributor of electrical power alerted the public to outages on a social media page, noting at the time that crews were dispatched and working to get power back for customers.
As the announcement was made that power was restored, Festival Hydro advised anyone that was still without power to call 519-271-4700.
No cause has been announced, however, there was inclement weather including rain and heavy winds overnight Sunday.
Tiziana Baccega-Rosa, media representative with Hydro One, said 4,580 customers were affected in their coverage are.Â
The outage spanned a large area because it was on the transmission system, affecting customers in the Stratford, Wingham, Seaforth, Centralia and Goderich areas.Â
Outages started at 6:35 a.m. and most were restored by 8 a.m., she said.
Many customers were only out for under five minutes.
“Because it was on our transmission system we were able to restore customers by moving their supply to another line while our crews were on the ground investigating.”
Avon Maitland District School Board asked parents to keep an eye out from their schools for potential two hour delays, which included Anne Hathaway, Bedford and Hamlet in the city, as well as county schools.
