Homelessness has reached crisis levels, but a Stratford company is making a difference.
Home Suite Home Affordable Housing is providing tiny homes to rent.
They focus on homelessness prevention and “hidden” homeless, who couch surf or live with family.
Executive Director Vicky Devocht said life is difficult for homeless people, particularly in the colder months.
“We all know that winter is a very dangerous and challenging time for those living unsheltered,” said Devocht.
They have an online store, Hope Essentials, where people can donate by purchasing essential products to be delivered to housing centres in the area.
Home Suite Home Affordable Housing is hosting its FUNDrive every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. until Oct. 27.
They are collecting items that include gently used clothes, household textiles, small household goods, kitchen items, books and media.
You can drop them off at the BMI Group parking lot in Stratford.
Home Suite Home collects the items and takes it to FUNDrive, a non-profit eco-friendly organization that buys per weight the items that are donated. The funding helps build tiny homes.
The organization is also holding a Backpacks for the Homeless initiative, providing backpacks with essentials to connection centres in Stratford and other areas.
