The Municipality of North Perth recently passed a motion supporting the ‘Solve the Crisis’ Campaign.
At it’s Oct. 21 meeting, the municipality demonstrated its commitment to tackling the growing mental health, addictions, and homelessness crisis by passing the motion.
The ‘Solve the Crisis’ campaign, initiated by Ontario’s Big City Mayors, highlights the need for government intervention to manage the strain on local resources as well as emphasizes the urgent need for action from provincial and federal governments.
North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg spoke on the gravity of the situation stating that “all of these issues could be better addressed if the provincial and federal governments dealt with their responsibilities for these matters.”
He added that local governments “need partners who step up and help overloaded municipalities deal with the unfortunate realities of people who are hurting and homeless.”
