The Stratford Perth Centre for Business recently announced the launch of a new version of its Starter Company Plus program, which is now accepting applications from the arts and culture industry until Dec. 2.
This provincially funded grant tailored to the arts and culture sector is aimed at entrepreneurs within Stratford, St. Marys and Perth County.
The centre is considering applications from all types of entrepreneurs, from artists to actors, to writers and food creators. Â
Holly Mortimer, Business Advisor at the Stratford Perth Centre for Business explains the unique skill set that arts and culture entrepreneurs have.
“Arts and culture entrepreneurs have this incredibly special skill in sharing the passion that they have,” explained Mortimer.
The successful candidates are required to participate in five training sessions in January and February before they receive a grant of up to $5,000.
This year’s program will offer the successful applicants business planning training, focusing on areas such as cash flow, operations, and marketing.
Mortimer says this training equips the entrepreneurs with the foundational skills needed to be successful in starting and building a business. She also adds that supporting local entrepreneurs is vital in their success.
“When we as a government team supports them, and our citizens support them with revenue with generating revenue for them, it comes back into the community like 10 times,” said Mortimer.
