UPDATE: Stand-off ends peacefully, female victim remains in hospital

UPDATE: 12-05-24, 1:30 p.m.: A media release sent out by the Stratford Police explained that the accused 51-year-old male Stratford resident exited the residence on Mornington Street in Stratford after a stand-off with police.

The female victim was located walking along Mornington street by a witness who contacted police and transported her to the hospital. The female remains in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.

Public safety was a concern during the incident as it was reported that a firearm was used in the offence.

A replica firearm was also seized at the time of arrest.

The man was transported to Stratford Police Headquarters where he was charged with serious criminal offences. He will be held in custody to attend a bail hearing.

UPDATE: 12-05-24, 11:30 a.m.: Stratford police have arrested the accused shortly before 11 a.m. after he exited the residence, with no injuries reported to the subject.

Roads currently closed will be back open shortly.

12-05-24, 10:30 a.m.: Stratford Police are investigating an incident of intimate partner violence at a residence in the north end of Stratford.

A female victim was injured and taken to hospital early Thursday morning, with the extent of her injuries unknown.

The accused male has barricaded himself within a home.

Police have closed off areas of Mornington Street, Quinlan Road and Graff Avenue for the investigation.

Police attempted to negotiate to a peaceful resolution with the subject to have him turn himself over to the officers on scene.
