Snow Squall Warning in effect for:
- Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County
Lake effect snow squalls beginning this evening.
Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations of 15 to 30 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 6 cm per hour. Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
Timing: This evening through Wednesday afternoon.
Discussion: Lake effect snow off Lake Huron will become more organized this evening. Northwesterly winds gusting to 50 km/h may result in local blowing snow, predominantly for exposed areas near Lake Huron.
Lake effect snow will weaken and move out of the area Wednesday afternoon. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
