Snow squall warning Wednesday for Stratford, parts of county

Snow Squall Warning in effect for:

  • Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County

Snow squalls continue into tonight.

What: Additional local snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm. Significantly reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow.

When: Now into tonight.

Additional Information: Snow squalls off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will combine with northwesterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h to result in significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. The lake effect snow will taper in intensity through tonight. Winds will also weaken this evening.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
