GOJHL playoffs: Stratford, St. Marys win quarterfinal series

Jonas Schmidt’s hat trick led the Stratford Warriors to a 5-2 road win over the LaSalle Vipers on Sunday.

The Warriors swept the GOJHL quarterfinal series 4-0.

Schmidt scored the game winner in the second period and added two empty netters late in the third to secure passage to the next round of the junior B playoffs.

Joseph Curtin and Colin Slattery also scored for the Warriors.

Cade McGeen and Brenda Gouin scored for the Vipers.

Four different players scored goals on Friday night, as the Warriors won 4-0 over the Vipers in Game 3.

Hunter Nagge opened the scoring. Drew Hodge, Quinn Kipfer and Colin Slattery all scored power play goals.

Carter McDougall stopped all 32 shots he faced in net for the Warriors.

Also Friday, St. Marys Lincolns wrapped up their quarterfinal series with a convincing 6-0 win over KW Siskins.

Noah Vandenbrink, Cohen Bidgood, Lincoln Moore, Jaden Lee, Ryan Cornfield and Kyle Morey each scored for the Lincolns, as they won the series 4-1.

Colby Booth-Housego stopped 19 shots for the shutout.

London Nationals picked up another road win at Listowel Cyclones on Friday, 4-2, to take a 3-0 lead in that quarterfinal.

Joshua LePain, Austen Pomerleau and Ayden Doyle gave the visitors a 3-0 lead after two periods.

Cam McNevan and Colton Henderson, on the power play, scored for the Cyclones in the third period before Connor Clark secured the win with an empty netter.

Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in London. Game 5, if necessary, would be in Listowel on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
