Man started building a log home after cutting down conservation area trees

A 34-year-old male of no fixed address has been charged by Huron OPP after cutting down trees at the Maitland Conservation Area and building a log home in North Huron.

OPP received a complaint in March and discovered that 27 mature trees were cut down. The start of a log home build was in the area.

Police investigated and later identified the suspect, who is charged with mischief over $5,000. The total value of the loss is $27,000.

The accused has an appearance at Ontario Court of Justice Goderich on June 2nd.
