Giovanni Del Chiaro age 87 of Stratford passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday January 14, 2014. Born in Lucca, Italy, son of the late Frederico and Domenica Del Chiaro. Beloved husband for 59 years of Oliva (Viani). Loving Father of Loriano “Dar” Del Chiaro and wife Dianne of Stratford. John Carlo Del Chiaro and wife Rebecca of Kitchener. Proud Grandfather to Richard Del Chiaro and wife (Kathleen), Lisa Del Chiaro and Jackson Del Chiaro. Survived by brother-in-law Giuseppe Viani (Silvana) and sister-in-laws Carla Viani (Roy), Elena Del Chiaro, Maria Del Chiaro, Christina Viani and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by all his brothers and sisters. Giovanni emigrated to Canada in 1953 and worked at Crane Canada until his retirement in 1991. He loved making wine, tending to his garden and his family and friends. He was a member of St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church of Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street ., Stratford on Friday January 17, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. (Parish Prayers will be held at 6:45 p.m.) The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday January 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street., Stratford. Burial will follow at Avondale Cemetery.
