The Huron County OPP says two scams are still active and making money in the area.
They’re the grandparent/emergency scam and the Microsoft Anti-Virus scam.
The OPP says an 83-year-old Central Huron man recently lost $1,000 to the emergency con.
A 70-year-old Central Huron woman also recently lost a couple hundred dollars to the anti-virus scam.
Always remember to be suspicious of any unsolicited calls you get asking you for money.
Double check and confirm with other members of your family before sending any money.
If you do fall victim to a fraud call the police.
Otherwise you can report the scam to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
