SGH among hospitals receiving infrastructure renewal funds

Perth County hospitals are getting new funding for critical upgrades and repairs.

Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington, has announced funding through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) and the Exceptional Circumstances Project (ECP) Grant.

In Perth County, Listowel Memorial Hospital ($3.24 million), St. Marys Memorial Hospital ($217,000), and Stratford General Hospital ($1.43 million) are getting funds.

“The Listowel Memorial Hospital is always appreciative of the Hospital Infrastructure Renewal funding from the Province of Ontario,” Karl Ellis, President and CEO of Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance, said in a media release.

Rae said the provincial government is committed to supporting high-quality care in rural areas.

Ontario is investing more than $228 million this year to improve infrastructure at hospitals  and community healthcare facilities across the province, including an extra $20 million for urgent projects.

Health Minister Sylvia Jones praised the initiative, noting the importance of modernizing facilities to ensure access to state-of-the-art care close to home.
