Stratford 5K returns to Upper Queens Park

The Stratford 5K Run and Walk, a key event supporting the local Community Food Centre, will start and end at Upper Queens Park and promises a day of community engagement and support for a vital cause.

Event organizers Dan Rajagopalan and Matt Smith provided detailed information about the event.

“It’s going to be a fantastic day,” said Rajagopalan. “We’re going to have vendors, people from local gyms, coaches, physiotherapists, chiropractors.”

In addition to the main race, scheduled for Oct. 6, an Expo will be held the day before at the food centre at 612 Erie Street.

The main race will commence at 9:30 a.m., with a kids’ race at 8:50 a.m.

Group participation is highly encouraged. Smith highlighted the community aspect.

“We highly encourage groups to come out. Last year, we had some great teams that got dressed up and provided a lot of extra energy, which was great both for the kids and for the other runners in the 5K itself,” he said.

There are prizes for top fundraisers in both individual and team categories.

Early bird registration is currently open, with reduced rates available until July 15. when the registration fee increases to $40.

Youth under age 17 are especially encouraged to participate, with a reduced registration fee of $20.
