Stratford Summer Music Festival, known for its wide range of performances, saw record attendance this year, drawing many new guests.
Artistic Director Mark Fewer celebrates success and hints at exciting future events.
“We have probably the largest and widest spectrum of musical styles on any Canadian summer festival stage,” said Fewer. “We’re proud of that, and we see the community engagement happening as a result.”
Last weekend featured several sold-out shows with World in a Weekend, including a long-awaited mariachi performance, said Fewer.
This closing weekend, Aug. 9-11, will feature JUNO-winning saxophonist Allison Au, Bayfield Ukulele Society, and the renowned piano duo Quattro Mani.
Looking ahead, Fewer announced Stratford Summer Music will continue year-round, with events planned for the fall and winter, including a special November show.
The festival’s 25th anniversary next year promises to be a major event, with big announcements coming this fall, said Fewer.
