Stratford’s Communities in Bloom Committee received major recognition at the 2024 Communities in Bloom National and International Symposium and Awards Ceremony, in Charlottetown, PEI.
Stratford was competing in the international competition, where the city was awarded a rating of 5 bloom gold standard.
It’s the highest rating Communities in Bloom offers.
Stratford also received an outstanding achievement award for the Best Downtown Area.
Communities in Bloom is a Canadian volunteer non-profit organization that uses a multi-tiered competitive evaluation process to foster community strength, involvement and continuous improvement.
Over the summer, judges travelled to the participating communities from coast-to-coast to evaluate the overall contributions municipally, industrially and within the private sector.
The communities are then judged on a criteria based on Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape and Plant and Floral Displays.
MyStratfordNow talked with city councillor Brad Beatty, Chair of the Stratford Communities Bloom Advisory Committee, about Stratford’s success at the symposium.
“Hats off to everyone in our community, for the wonderful work that we all do all year round to make our city such a wonderful place to be,” expressed Coun. Beatty.
Stratford also got a special mention for Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan & One Planet Living Principles.
“So it was a fantastic time in Charlottetown, great recognition for Stratford,” said Beatty.
Stratford will be the host city of the next symposium in 2025 from Oct. 16 – 19.
