Police share tips for a safe Halloween for everyone

Police are sharing tips to make this year a safe (and fun) Halloween.

Most tips are well-known but bear repeating.

For parents, kids can wear makeup instead of masks and ensure when travelling, everyone buckles-up and younger children are supervised.

Stratford Police Const. Darren Fischer reminds residents to wear reflective clothing or light-up accessories to aid in visibility.

“It gets pretty dark, pretty early now, so making sure you can see and be seen as well,” said Const. Fischer.

For drivers, be on alert for excited kids in pursuit of candy.

“It’s always important to be careful of traffic, for both drivers and pedestrians.”

Homeowners should ensure the home is well lit and paths are free of any tripping hazards.

For trick-or-treaters, travel with a group or adults, and share the route and when you’re expected  home.

Make sure treats are approved by an adult.

Police will be out ensuring everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.

Meanwhile, the weather isn’t looking too scary this Halloween and it could be a trick-or-treat, with a chance of a thunderstorms, but a high of 23.
