Perth OPP are investigating intimate partner violence after a traffic collision.
Just before 6 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 16), police began investigating a two-vehicle collision on Perth Line 33.
No injuries were sustained in the collision, but the driver from one of the vehicles involved fled the scene on foot.
It was discovered that prior to the accident, the passenger in the vehicle had been assaulted.
With the West Region OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team, the person of interest was located and arrested around 8:30 p.m.
A 36-year-old from Perth County was charged with assault with a weapon to a spouse, dangerous operation, failure to remain and driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
The accused is in custody pending a bail hearing.
