Traffic light proposed for infamous collision hotspot just outside of Stratford

A new signalized intersection may be coming to a collision hotspot in Perth East.

The proposed traffic lights are set for the intersection of Hwy 7/8 and Rd. 111, just outside of Stratford.

The intersection requires improvements to address community safety concerns.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation hired Egis to perform the preliminary design and environmental assessment study.

The Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) was just completed and it detailed the recommended construction of a signalized intersection and dedicated left turn lanes on each leg of the intersection.

This upgrade would also include other improvements such as new median traffic islands with curb and gutter, new entrance connections and the installation of lights.

The next phase of design for this intersection improvement is anticipated to start in 2025 with construction to follow shortly after.

The report is available online for feedback during its 30-day comment period, which ends Jan. 3, 2025.
