Who has the best Christmas light display in Stratford?
Stratford Civic Beautification Environmental Awareness Committee will be the judge of that.
The annual LIGHT UP STRATFORD contest is coming up next weekend, in time for the holiday season.
From Dec. 12 – 15, residents are invited to light up their homes and businesses as judges from the volunteer committee will be viewing during that time.
The committee will be driving around all the city’s wards between 6 and 10 p.m., and participants for the contest do not have to register to enter.
Bonnie Henderson, Stratford city councillor and member of the Stratford Civic Beautification Environmental Awareness Committee, explained how the contest works.
“We just go out and drive around and we do every street, it’s really fun actually,” said Henderson.
Criteria is based on appeal, environmental consciousness, and other factors.
The committee then decides on a winner and runner-up, who get a plaque with the picture of their home or business on it.
Mayor Martin Ritsma will present them with a gift.
After the judging, the committee will release a list of the best residential and commercial light displays in Stratford, so the public can enjoy the best displays as well.
