Breaking: Posties ordered back to work, mail will move on Tuesday

The month-long strike by Canada Post is over.

Canada Industrial Relations Board has ordered postal workers back to work, and mail will move again on Tuesday.

Federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon said on Friday the two sides are at an impasse and an industrial inquiry commission was formed to dig into the structural issues preventing the labour dispute from being resolved.

The board agreed the two sides are at an impasse, and ordered union members to return to work. The commission will look into bargaining issues and find recommendations by the middle of May, on how a new agreement can be reached.

In the meantime, postal workers are back on the job.

Canada Post said 55,000 workers in its urban, rural and suburban mail carrier bargaining went on strike. Mail and parcels were not being processed or delivered during the nationwide strike and some post offices will be closed.
