GOJHL: Schmidt scores pair of game winners for Stratford Warriors

Jonas Schmidt scored twice, including the game winner, in the Stratford Warriors 4-1 win over K-W Siskins at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Rhyse Brown and Heath Bogart added singles for the Warriors, who are in second place in the GOJHL Western Division standings.

Ben Oliver scored for K-W.

Schmidt also scored the game winner in Stratford’s 3-1 win in St. Thomas on Friday night.

Matthew Blake and Colin Slattery added singles. Lucas Bailey scored for the Stars.

Elsewhere in the GOJHL, first place St. Marys Lincolns continued to set the pace with a pair of wins.

Kyle Morey, Luca Spagnolo and Jacob McLellan, with an empty netter, scored in the Warriors 3-1 win over Komoka Kings on Saturday night.

Ben Funston had a short handed goal for the Kings.

St. Marys also won 3-1 on Friday night against Sarnia Legionnaires.

Lincoln Moore, Ryan Hodkinson and Jaden Lee scored for the Warriors while Gage Brandon scored for the Legionnaires.

Listowel Cyclones were edged 6-5 in a shootout on Sunday by Elmira Sugar Kings.

Nate Gravelle had a hat trick for the Sugar Kings. Brett Warrilow and Joey Martin also scored for the Sugar Kings.

Cam McNeven scored twice for the Cyclones, including the tying goal with one second left in the third period. Ezra Fischer, Teegan Middleton and Colton Henderson also scored.

Listowel won 4-1 on Friday over Strathroy Rockets.

Harrison Meulensteen scored twice for the Cyclones. Avry Anstis and McNeven added singles.

Chase Gaughan scored for the Rockets.
