Stratford Festival’s 2024 season ended with a $1.1M deficit

The Stratford Festival has announced a deficit of more than $1.1 million from its last season.

The total revenue from the theatre for 2024 was almost $75.4 million dollars.

However, with expenses totaling $76.5 million, the company ends the year in the red.

This is compared to the 2023 year-end surplus of more than $400,000.

The figures came from the festival’s annual report that was released last week.

The report also revealed a decline in attendance, with 430,000 patrons attending shows in 2024, slightly less than the previous year.

The 2025 season starts this month, with the first preview performance of the highly anticipated Annie on April 19.

It will also feature performances of Sense and Sensibility, Dangerous Liaisons, Macbeth, Anne of Green Gables, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Winter’s Tale, Forgiveness, Ransacking Troy, The Art of War and As You Like It.
