A ‘quacking’ good time: Listowel’s rubber duck race is back

Get ready for a ‘quacking’ good time as Listowel’s popular Spring Duck Race is back.
The organization called Friends of the North Perth Public Library has partnered with the Listowel Lions Club to bring back this ‘popular rite of spring’.
This year’s race takes place on May 24 and will see hundreds of rubber ducks float down the Maitland River in a competition to see which duck is first to cross the finish line.
The first duck will win $1,000, with second place earning $500, and third, fourth and fifth place earning $100 each.
Participants must pre-purchase a ticket to enter a duck in the race.
Tickets can be bought from the members of the hosting organizations or at the Listowel branch of the North Perth Public Library.
The ducks will be launched at 11 a.m. from the pedestrian bridge in the Listowel Memorial Park.
Proceeds raised from the event will go towards local library programs and initiatives.
