‘In this to provide a choice to people’: PPC candidate wants to stop ‘government overreach’

Wayne Baker said he brings a strong work ethic to everything he does.

The People’s Party of Canada’s candidate for Perth-Wellington has worked in a variety of roles throughout his life, from farmer to real estate broker, tradesman and a business owner.

Baker is hoping to add MP to that list.

He believes that that most important issue facing every Canadian is what he calls a “massive government overreach”.

“I believe in a country that respects the supremacy of God, crafts its laws based on that respect and allows its citizens unfettered freedom within those bounds.”

He cites current and past government overreach of ‘oppressive taxation, unaccountable spending, unresponsive bureaucracy and manipulative media’.

The People’s Party of Canada has committed to balancing the federal budget, establishing zero per cent inflation, and reducing government overhead.

A “through-and-through Canadian”, baker was motivated into politics in 2021 after government enforced lockdowns and wants to provide an alternative option to the traditional political parties.

“I’m in this to provide a choice to people. I hope that choice prevails.”

As for the threat of tariffs, Baker says the best position is to “turn the other cheek”.

He explains that if Donald Trump wants to put tariffs on Canadian products, that the country is faced with two choices: becoming more competitive in price and product to sell in the American market or to find an alternative buyer.
