The latest performance from St. Marys Community Players delves into ‘intergenerational relationships and familial love’, as the lead character is pulled in different directions.
Joe DiPietro’s Over the River and Through the Woods, starting with a preview performance tonight (April 24) at the Town Hall Theatre, is described as “funny and heartwarming”.
Actor Kevin Foad said he has enjoyed working with the cast and crew.
“Rehearsals have been great fun. Intense. There is a lot of lines. There is a lot of fast dialogue. There is a little bit of singing and dancing.”
Foad’s character has travelled to his grandparents’ house for Sunday dinners for 29 years, while most of his immediate family has moved away.
It’s an Italian immigrant family, so Foad said, “that the food is pretty good.”
The discussions are also interesting, he noted.
While he is considering moving away from the city, his grandparents really don’t want him to go.
Directed by Phyllis Leighton, Over the River and Through the Woods runs Friday nights, with Saturday and Sunday matinees, until May 10.
