Damage from fire at livestock farm in Wellesley Township pegged at over $5 thousand

A four-year-old playing with a barbecue lighter is believed to have been the cause of a fire at a livestock farm in Wellesley Township.

That’s according to CTV News who reports that the child’s blanket was sparked by the lighter which caused the fire on Saturday at the farm on Line 86 near Lavery Road.

Four people were sent to the hospital with smoke inhalation after the fire started in a shed and spread to a house around 8:30 Saturday morning.

No livestock was damaged in the fire.

Officials estimate that the fire caused over $5 thousand in damage.
