Some Stratford residents might find their water discolored this week but there’s no need to worry.
The City of Stratford’s Environmental Services division is starting a pilot project that involves flushing water mains of mineral deposits and sediment using high-velocity water flow.
Officials say the technique isolates certain sections of the water main and allows for better scouring of the pipes while using 40 percent less water than conventional flushing methods.
It’s being done in eight sections of the city:
• St. Vincent Street for Lorne Avenue to Patterson Street
• Wellington Street from Cambria Street to St. David Street
• Queen Street from Douro Street to Regent Street
• Nornabell Court
• Rankin Street
• Graff Avenue from Mornington Street to Dorland Drive
• Dufferin Street from Walnut Street to Elm Street
• Nelson Street from Maple Avenue to Walnut Street
Water quality isn’t affected, and the discolored water will clear after running your cold water taps.
You’re reminded to make sure the water has cleared before doing laundry.
