UPDATE: No injuries after house fire in Stratford

UPDATE: 11:10 A.M.

Four people and two cats escaped without injury after a fire at a Stratford home.

Stratford Fire Chief John Paradis tells MyStratfordNow.com that a call came in around 8 o’clock Tuesday morning after smoke was seen coming from a basement window at a home on St.Vincent Street.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a mattress in the basement.

Smoke was cleared from the house and an investigation into the cause continues.

Paradis says working smoke alarms were the key to all residents getting out safely.
